Candle Care & Safety
By choosing a soy wax candle, you are doing yourself and the environment a favor! Soy is an amazing ingredient for many reasons; it is a renewable resource and made from soybeans, making it a natural and renewable product. Unlike paraffin, which is a by-product of crude oil refining. Soy also burns at a lower temperature, which in turn, slows the process of burning through the wax and fragrance oil, giving your candle a longer life than paraffin products. Soy is also a clean burning material and produce much less smoke than paraffin. Anyone sensitive to candle smoke will have an easier time with soy wax and the air will be cleaner and safer for everyone including children and pets.
One of the most important tips for burning your candle is to create a full melt pool all the way across the top of the candle on your first burn. This will prevent “tunneling” later and give you more longevity to your candle. But don’t ever burn longer than 4 hours at the maximum, because the container can get too hot and break! Always keep your wick trimmed to ¼” to prevent smoke and a flickering flame which can make your candle burn inconsistently.
Once you are finished burning your candle, you can simply wash out the container and reuse it, the earth will thank you!
Things to know about soy:
- Soy wax tends to have a 'rustic' look after the candle has cooled. This does not affect the scent or the way the candle will burn, it is simply due to the nature of the soy.
- You may also notice “wet spots”, frosting or a possible uneven surface of the candle. Again, this is not a flaw but part of the natural makeup of soy and the hand pouring process.
- While it is a biodegradable product, remember as you wash out your candle, to avoid pouring the wax down your drains.
- As with any candle, never leave a candle unattended. Keep out of reach of children and pets. Say Anything Studio cannot be held responsible for any damage that may occur.
